PRAYING FOR WORLDWIDE MOVEMENTS

To complete the Great Commission, the gospel must spread naturally, accurately, and quickly. God is calling His people to return to the principles that catalyzed the explosive growth of the early Church. His desire is for all people to obey and worship Him—and challenge others to do the same. The real game changers are not those who merely believe in Jesus, but those who actually follow Him. Disciple-making movements (DMM) are the key because they are simple, sustainable and scalable.

But what is a movement? What is it we are actually praying for? And what is it going to take to fulfill this Great Commission we have been given of discipling the nations? A movement can be defined as a measurable amount of growth that reflects an underground work, which has the ability for viral, unstoppable multiplicity. At GCM, we define movement growth as 4 generations of churches, which total at least 500 active members.

A generation is not about the age of the believer, but rather a group that was birthed out of another group. Many groups may form out of the first group, and so on. Since our churches are all underground, how does GCM define a church? We define a church as a group of baptized believers who are actively engaged in community, serving each others’ needs, praying and worshiping together, and continuing to make more disciples.

When it comes to movements, we are not focused on building large churches. Our emphasis is on multiplying small groups of disciples who make disciples. With this in mind, what does GCM need to do to see the multiplication of disciples throughout the nations become a reality? First, is pray. The purpose of defining movements is so that you can better understand how to agree in prayer with us.

The second is to give to the work of making disciples, and to pray for others to give to DMM. We would like you to ask our Father in heaven with us for the funding of movements. While an expense accomplishes a specific purpose for today, an investment holds the promise of impact for tomorrow. Disciple-making movements are an investment that grows and spreads as disciples make disciples. The process is catalytic, and the results are explosive.

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
— Luke 6:38

It’s not the one who plants or the one who waters who is at the center of this process but God, who makes things grow.
— 1 Corinthians 3:7
  1. PRAY FOR VIRAL GROWTH

Father, we ask by Your divine working of the Holy Spirit, that You would bring the growth to the underground church and cause these seeds to grow. Would You pour out your Spirit in an unprecedented way that we would be witnesses in our day and time to seeing MOVEMENTS? In Jesus’ name, amen.

...until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.
— Ephesians 4:13
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you,
— Ephesians 1:17-18

2.
PRAY FOR MATURE LEADERS

Father, develop strong leaders, full of faith, endurance, and unity with one another. Feed them by Your Word, that they would grow strong, lacking in nothing, being fruitful in every good work, unto the maturity of being entrusted with the nurturing and development of Kingdom expansion in the Muslim world, in Jesus’ name.

3. PRAY FOR EXPANSION IN DMM NETWORKS

Father, give us wisdom as we continue to expand into more regions in restricted-access Islamic nations. Give us guidance for expansion strategy, partners, and networking, in Jesus’ name.

We hope this guide helps you in praying the Word. Truly praying scripture is the most powerful way to pray, as you are using God’s very words for your prayers. Thank you for praying for the ongoing expansion of the Kingdom with us.
